dYdX v4 will likely include the deployment of community managed frontends leveraging open source code. This will require regular maintenance, and presumably occasional upgrades. We can also expect the community to request new features through governance. Frontends will include a website, an IOS app, and an Android app.
We are looking for experienced frontend development teams to help deploy and maintain these frontends on behalf of the community, both during the public testnet and the mainnet deployment of dYdX V4.
In dYdX v4, indexers will likely play an important role of providing real-time data to users through a queryable database. To help promote data accessibility, we are looking for experienced data infrastructure teams to run testnet and mainnet indexers. We expect deployment, uptime, and upgrades through ongoing maintenance of the indexer.
The current process for listing new markets on dYdX requires approval through an on-chain proposal, which is a slow and difficult process. Looking ahead to dYdX v4, we should expect an easier technical process to allow for permissionless listings similar to listings on other protocols (e.g., Osmosis). With that, however, come important questions around liquidity, risk, and protocol integration. How should the community think about an efficient and permissionless market creation process?
We are looking for experienced researchers to build a model for permissionless market listings on dYdX v4. The research should include thoughts on bootstrapping liquidity (e.g., separate liquidity incentives), risks to the underlying protocol (e.g., malicious listings), separate parameters (e.g., margin factions, rewards, fees), and the process for “graduating” new markets to the core protocol.
The liquidity provider rewards formula implements a maximum spread for trades to be included in the calculation. When a bid or ask is above the maximum spread, the order is not included in the scoring for rewards. This incentivizes liquidity providers to place orders closer to the mid price, improving the liquidity of dYdX markets.
Maximum spreads are currently set at: 20 basis points for BTC-USD and ETH-USD, and 40 basis points for all other markets.
We are looking for experienced researchers to explore optimal MaxSpread parameters. The research should make use of market data, peer analysis, and theory to provide the community with improved parameters that fairly reward liquidity providers for competitive spreads. The deliverable may include a governance proposal based on the results.
As part of our International Growth budget, the Grants team is looking to support local communities through interactive events instead of the traditional sponsorship grants. Workshops can be educational lessons, interactive walkthroughs, and builder-oriented with live projects. If you’re interested in gathering up a group of traders and builders to get their hands dirty in dYdX, apply for a workshop grant!
We’re looking for community members who can lead initiatives to get dYdX listed on decentralized lending protocols (e.g. Compound, Aave) as collateral or alternative yield-bearing opportunities for DYDX holders.
Promote the use of Hedgies integrating into platforms, add-ons, benefits and more.
Grant to sponsor a crypto or trading related event that includes marketing and promotion.
Collaborating, Integrating, Partnering with third-party services that can help promote dYdX or benefit the community.
